FAQ

Common questions

Installation
After purchase (or download for Shine), you'll receive an installer file. Run it, follow the prompts, and your DAW will pick up the plugin automatically on its next scan. On Mac, the installer handles both AU and VST3. On Windows, it installs to the standard VST3 directory. You do not need to move any files manually.
Step 1: Run a plugin rescan in your DAW. In Logic, go to Audio Units Manager. In Reaper or Ableton, open Preferences → Plugins and rescan.

Step 2 (Mac): Make sure you're running the correct version. Apple Silicon Macs should use AU or VST3 (not the Intel VST3). If your DAW is Rosetta, install both and test the Intel version.

Step 3: Check that your DAW's plugin folder is the standard one — /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components (AU) or /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 on Mac.

If none of that helps, send us a message with your OS and DAW version.
Only for the initial license activation. After that, Saelin plugins work entirely offline. No phone-home, no periodic checks, no internet dependency.
Yes. Each license for Ember and Gloss covers two machine activations simultaneously — your studio machine and your laptop, for example. Shine is free and has no activation limit.
Licensing & Activation
Yes. Deactivate the old machine first (there's a deactivation option in the plugin's settings panel), then activate on the new one. If you've lost access to the old machine, email us and we'll sort it out.
Yes. Email support@saelin.audio from the address you used to purchase, and we'll resend everything.
No. Saelin uses its own lightweight license system. No iLok account, no USB hardware, no third-party software required.
Audio & Behavior
Adaptive means the plugin continuously reads characteristics of your incoming signal — level, frequency balance, transient density, spectral content — and adjusts its processing to match what the signal needs. It's not a fixed EQ or compressor setting; it changes in real time as you play. This is DSP-based (not AI-generated), which means it's deterministic, low-latency, and works reliably across all signal types.
Very little. Saelin plugins are designed to be lightweight enough to run on every track of a session simultaneously without straining a modern machine. On most computers, you'll see under 1% CPU per instance. Exact figures vary by sample rate and buffer size — higher sample rates (96kHz+) cost marginally more.
Yes — that's the intended workflow. Shine goes first (clarity), Ember second (warmth), Gloss last (finish). Each plugin is designed to work well with the others and at full chain. You can also use any one of them in isolation; they're built to be standalone tools, not a forced bundle.
Make sure the plugin is receiving signal — check that your track is armed for record (or has audio on it), and that the plugin is not muted or bypassed. If it's still silent, try increasing the main knob (Presence on Shine, Bloom on Ember, Coat on Gloss) above zero. The plugins are designed to be subtle at low settings. If you're still not hearing anything, send us a note.

Refund Policy

14-day guarantee. No questions.

For Saelin Ember and Saelin Gloss

If you're not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, email support@saelin.audio within 14 days of purchase and we'll issue a full refund. You don't need to explain why, and we won't try to change your mind.

To request a refund: email us from the address you used to purchase. Include your order number if you have it — but if you don't, that's fine too. We can look it up.

Refunds typically process within 5 business days via LemonSqueezy and appear on your statement within a week.

For Saelin Shine

Shine is free — there's nothing to refund. If you're having trouble with it, get in touch and we'll help you get it working.

Edge cases

The 14-day window starts on the date of purchase, not the date you first opened the plugin. If you're on day 15 and have a genuine problem, email us anyway — we'll use judgment. The goal is for you to be satisfied with what you bought.

We don't process refunds for purchases made more than 30 days ago except in exceptional circumstances.
